What are Xalatan Eye Drops?

Xalatan eye drops contain latanoprost and are used to treat glaucoma, ocular hypertension and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Xalatan is an ophthalmic glaucoma agent which is similar to the natural chemical prostaglandin. Latanoprost works to lower pressure inside your eye by increasing the amount of fluid which drains away from your eye.

• Wash your hands before applying latanoprost.
• Tip your head back and use your finger to pull down your lower eyelid creating a small pocket. Hold the dropper directly above your eye. Look up and away from the dropper and squeeze out a drop.
• Tilt your head downwards and keep your eyes closed for 2-3 minutes. Gently hold your finger to the inside corner of your eye to prevent liquid from draining into your tear duct.
• If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using latanoprost and wait fifteen minutes before putting contact lenses in.
• Wait at least five minutes before using any other eye drops.
• Avoid touching the tip of your eye dripper as this could contaminate it leading to an infection.
• Tell your doctor immediately if you have an eye injury or infection or if you plan on eye surgery.
• Store unopened Xalatan bottles in your refrigerator and then at room temperature once opened. Discard bottles six weeks after opening.

• If you have any drug or other allergies.
