Tobrex Eye Drops belong to a class of drugs called aminoglycoside antibiotics used to treat eye infections. It works by stopping bacteria growth, only curing bacterial eye infections. It will not work for other types of eye infections.

Tobrex Eye Drops are usually given as 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye every 4 hours. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions very carefully. To apply the Tobrex Eye Drops:

• Wash your hands before using eye medication.
• Tilt your head slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. 
• Hold the dropper above the eye with the tip down. Look up and away from the dropper and squeeze out a drop.
• Close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes with your head tipped down without blinking or squinting. 
• Gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute to keep the liquid from draining into your tear duct.
• Wait 10 minutes before using any other eye drops your doctor has prescribed.

Before using Tobrex Eye Drops, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: other eye problems and if you are allergic to it or other aminoglycosides or have other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. 

Tobrex Eye Drops may cause temporary unstable vision after you apply them. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity requiring clear vision until you can safely perform such activities.

Tobrex Eye Drops may cause serious side effects. Call your doctor at once if you have the following:

• Severe burning or eye swelling,
• Severe discomfort, crusting or drainage.

Common side effects of Tobrex Eye Drops may include:

• Eye itching or redness;
• Mild burning, stinging, or irritation;
• Itchy or puffy eyelids;
• Blurred vision; or
• Your eyes may be more sensitive to light.
