Synalar Gel treats the inflammation and itching caused by several skin conditions, such as allergic reactions, eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis.

Use Synalar Gel on the skin only. However, please do not use it on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed to do so by your doctor.

Wash and dry your hands before using—clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of medication to the affected area and gently rub in, usually 3-4 times daily or as directed by your doctor. Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the area unless directed to do so by your doctor.

Use Synalar Gel only for the condition for which it was prescribed. Please do not use it for longer than prescribed.

Before taking Synalar Gel, tell your doctor and pharmacist,
 

• If you are allergic to Synalar Gel, other medications, peanuts, or any ingredients in Synalar Gel topical products. Ask your pharmacist for a list of the ingredients.
• What prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and nutritional supplements are you planning to take?
• If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Call your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while using Synalar Gel topical.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Synalar: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Common Synalar Gel side effects may include:

• burning, itching, or irritation of treated skin;
• increased hair growth;
• white or "pruned" appearance of the skin;
• rash, pimples; or
• changes in the color of treated skin.

Is it safe to use Synalar Gel during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

During pregnancy, Synalar gel should be used only when prescribed. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk when applied to the skin. 

What side effects can Synalar Gel cause?

Synalar Gel topical may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• burning, itching, irritation, redness, or drying of the skin
  acne
• change in skin color
• bruising or shiny skin
• tiny red bumps or rash around the mouth
• small white or red bumps on the skin.
