Rythmol is prescribed to treat conditions that cause irregular heartbeats, like paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. This drug maintains a normal heart rhythm and steady heartbeat. Propafenone is an antiarrhythmic drug and works by blocking certain electrical signals that may disrupt the heart’s rhythm. By regulating the heart’s rhythm, the risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clots is reduced.

• Take this medication by mouth
• Typically, this drug is taken every eight hours, with or without food
• Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medication

Make sure to tell your doctor:

• Your medical history of asthma, kidney problems, myasthenia gravis, or Brugada syndrome.
• If you are pregnant or planning on pregnancy.

• Rythmol may cause QT prolongation, which is a heart rhythm disorder that causes fast or irregular heartbeats. It may also cause severe dizziness and fainting and medical attention should be sought right away.
• Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood may increase your risk of QT prolongation.
• Consuming alcohol and/or marijuana can increase the risk of side effects like dizziness when taking Rythmol.

• Constipation

• Fatigue

If you have any of the following side effects, seek medical help:

• Signs of infection (high fever, chills, weakness, persistent sore throat)
• Signs of liver problems (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
• Shortness of breath, sudden weight gain or loss

Can Rythmol affect fertility?

Propafenone may affect sperm production in males and may affect fertility. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about this side effect.

Are there any drugs that interact with Rythmol?

Rythmol may affect the removal of other medications from your body, which can affect their efficiency. Digoxin, imipramine, metoprolol, warfarin, and propranolol are examples of drugs that may be affected by Rythmol. Always tell your doctor of any other medications you are taking.
