Maxitrol Eye Drops are a combination of antibiotic and steroid medicine used to treat eye inflammation caused by uveitis, eye injury, radiation, chemical burns, or certain other conditions.

Maxitrol is used when there is a risk of bacterial infection in or around the eye.

Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully. Use Maxitrol Eye Drops as directed. 

To use the Maxitrol Eye Drops, follow these instructions:

• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
• Check the dropper tip to ensure it is not chipped or cracked.
• While tilting your head back, pull down the lower lid of your eye with your index finger to form a pocket.
• Hold the dropper (tip down) with the other hand as close to the eye as possible without touching it.
• While looking up, gently squeeze the dropper so that a single drop falls into the pocket made by the lower eyelid. Remove your index finger from the lower eyelid.
• Close your eye for 2 to 3 minutes and tip your head down as though looking at the floor. Try not to blink or squeeze your eyelids.
• Place a finger on the tear duct and apply gentle pressure.
• Replace and tighten the cap on the dropper bottle. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip.
• Wash your hands to remove any medication.

Before taking Maxitrol Eye Drops, tell your doctor if you have the following:

• Glaucoma,
• Cataracts, or if you need cataract surgery; or
• An allergic reaction to a medicine like neomycin.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not give this medicine to a child without medical advice.

Maxitrol Eye Drops may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• changes in vision, such as blurring and seeing halos around lights
• pressure and pain in the eye
• drooping of the eyelid.

How is Maxitrol Eye Drops to be stored?

Store at room temperature away from heat, light, and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Some brands may also need to be stored upright.

What happens if you miss a dose of Maxitrol Eye Drops?

Apply the missed dose of Maxitrol Eye Drops as soon as you remember them. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double amount to make up for a missed one.

Do not shareMaxitrol Eye Drops with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have.

Maxitrol Eye Drops may cause blurred vision and may impair your reactions. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you.
