Lidex Gel treats the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

Lidex Gel is to be used as directed by the physician. It is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.

It usually is applied one to four times a day. Apply a small amount of the gel to cover the affected area of the skin with a thin film and rub it in gently. Be sure to wash your hands immediately afterward. The treated skin area should not be bandaged or otherwise covered or wrapped as occlusive unless directed by the physician.

Before using topical Lidex Gel, tell your doctor and pharmacist if:

• You plan to take prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and nutritional supplements. 
• You have an infection, skin problems, diabetes, liver disease, or Cushing's syndrome.

Rare reports of the reactions listed below, which are reported in nearly decreasing order of occurrence after using topical Lidex Gel, include:

• Burning
• Itching
• Irritation
• Dryness
• Folliculitis
• Hypertrichosis
• Hypopigmentation    
• Perioral dermatitis
• Allergic contact dermatitis
• Maceration of the skin
• Skin atrophy
• Striae
• Miliaria

But may occur more frequently with the use of occlusive dressings. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication.

Is Lidex Gel safe to use on your face?

Lidex Gel is a powerful steroid used to treat various inflammatory skin conditions. But it would be best if you never used it on particularly sensitive areas, like your face, groin, or underarms, unless your doctor specifically instructs you to.

What should I know about the storage and disposal of Lidex Gel?

Keep Lidex Gel in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Do not freeze it.

What should I do if I forget a Lidex Gel dose?

Apply the missed Lidex Gel dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.
