It is used to treat conditions which involve excessive stomach acid including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), duodenal or with other medications to prevent duodenal ulcers. Aciphex works by relieving symptoms including heartburn, persistent coughing and difficulty swallowing.

Always read the patient information and instructions carefully before using this medication. Follow your doctor’s directions.

  • Aciphex is typically taken one daily with a full glass of water. It should be used for short-term use. It is usually taken for between four and eight weeks although your doctor may recommend a second course of treatment.
  • When taking Aciphex for duodenal ulcers, it should be taken after a meal. If taking to prevent ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, take Aciphex with food. If you take this medicine for any other condition, it can be taken either with or without food
  • Swallow Aciphex whole without crushing, chewing or breaking it.
  • Aciphex should be used for the full prescribed length of time even if your symptoms have improved.
  • Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
